El castillo de Sant Elm fue construido en el siglo XIII por orden del rey de Mallorca Jaume II como hospital para marineros. Presenta una torre de defensa con una pieza de artillería. Esta fortificación fue utilizada como atalaya de vigilancia y lugar de refugio ante los ataques de piratas y corsarios berberiscos de los siglos XVI y XVII. Completan el conjunto un oratorio, un patio interior, una capilla y un comedor conventual.
Está rodeado de pinar y su ubicación en el extremo suroeste de la Serra de Tramuntana lo convierte en un punto ideal para el inicio de itinerarios excursionistas. Desde sus amplias terrazas se puede contemplar el islote de Sa Dragonera (Parque Natural), así como las más soberbias puestas de sol sobre el mar Mediterráneo.

The construction of the castle of Sant Elm was commissioned in the 13 century by James II King of Majorca as a hospital for seamen. It has a defence tower with an artillery unit. In the 16th and 17 centuries this fortress was used as a watchtower and shelter to defend the area from Berber pirate and corsair attacks. An oratory, an inner patio, a chapel and a conventual dining room complete de castle.
It is surrounded by a pine forest. It’s location at the south-western point of the Serra de Tramuntana turns this place into a perfect starting point for hiking routes. From its wide terraces you can see the small island of Sa Dragonera (Natural Park) as well as the most magnificent sunsets in the Mediterranean Sea.
